Ketlen Vieira earns biggest win of UFC career over Miesha Tate

Killer Vieira wins the biggest win of her UFC career over Maisha Tate at UFC Vegas 43.

UFC bantamweight contestant Catalan Vieira announced the rest of her division at UFC Vegas 43 as she ground her way to victory over Maya Tate.

After starting a bit hesitantly in the early rounds, Vieira started to pick up the pace late and often had Tate on her hind foot. She found a home for the right hook and the left jab repeatedly, especially late in battle.

Tate had moments on his feet throughout the tackle, but had a hard time finding her range as the fight continued. She scored some of her signed downloads against Vieira, but failed to do much with it and put out a lot of fouls.

It was Vieira’s first attempt at fighting over five rounds in the UFC and she passed a big test against a former champion at Tate. Vieira managed to keep her range and pace in the final minutes of the fight and won unanimously.

Killer Vieira entered the bantamweight title picture with her win over Maisha Tate

Tate arrived at UFC Vegas 43 riding high after returning to the Octagon against Marion Renault earlier this year. She won a late TKO victory over Renault after five years away from the octagon.

Tate retired following UFC 205 when she lost in back-to-back fights against Raquel Pennington and Amanda Nunes. She won the Bentham weight title over Holly Holm at UFC 196.

It was easily the biggest stage in Vieira’s young career, having lost two of her last three tackles in the main event. She recently fell to Jana Konitskaya in a unanimous decision earlier this year. Despite her recent struggles, Vieira has won impressive victories over people like Kat Zingano and Sarah McMahon.

With the win over Tate, Vieira has a chance to win a title weight sooner rather than later.
