Ketlen Vieira, ‘everything I’ve been through made me stronger’

Killer Vieira believes her recent failures have strengthened her ahead of the first major event slot against Maya Tate at UFC Vegas 43.

After securing victories in each of her first four UFC appearances, the Brazilian Vieira dropped two of her next three fights – losing to Liana Konitskaya in her previous exit.

Vieira is set to face Strikeforce and former UFC weightlifting champion Bentham. The 30-year-old claims she will fight for the belt one day and that her previous sticks have made her a better fighter.

“Everything strengthened me” Said Vieira in an interview for her media day Using a translator. “I believe a great champion has to go through a hard way to get stronger, that’s what happened to me. I believe in God. I believe he knows everything and what needs to happen. Everything I went through only strengthened me.”

Vieira went through 10 fights before losing to Irene Aldena in UFC 245. Sitting in 7th place ahead of this fight in the desperate division for new contenders, Vieira is not far from earning a title shot.

Killer Vieira says winning UFC Vegas 43 ‘probably’ put her there

“Whenever you fight someone (Tate) that way you believe it can go straight to title photography,” her translator said. “So dealing with Maisha and achieving a victory against her will probably put me there.”

The villain weight contender believes she has the skills to beat Tate, but she thinks she will be the hungrier fighter in UFC Vegas 43 as well.

“I’m hungry and I want to build the story that Misha built in this sport,” she replied. “This hunger is something that motivates me to keep trying to achieve it.”

The winner of the UFC Vegas 43 main event will be the main contender to be next in line to win the title.

UFC Vegas 43 takes place on Saturday, November 20, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, New York. Follow FanSided MMA, which is on the site, for all your news and exiles.
