Midnight Mania! Jiri Prochazka trains by punching a tree 500 times per day

Welcome to Midnight Stock!

28-3 with 25 absurd knockouts to his name, Jiri Procheczka is doing something right. The Czech athlete is 2-0 inside the Octagon, and the former champion Rizin is probably next in line for a shot at the UFC gold.

What’s his secret?

Power punch has recently revealed a rather rare training method that involves punching a tree hundreds of times. There’s a thin mat, presumably to protect his hands from cuts, but yeah, that’s definitely Tony Ferguson’s strategy!

“It’s good for the body to be in the technique of being like a rock,” he explained (through MMAF Combat). “So I can go through the opponent’s body with my technique, and my technique can be more dangerous. It’s a good workout for the body … after some 500 punches, then I go to the bag, and the bag is very light, believe me.”

Body conditioning is a fairly common theme in “Midnight Mania.” Typically, fighters are known to let their coaches / partners release body shots or occasionally hit a bag without a glove to harden themselves into battle. Alternatively, kicking through a (soft) banana tree is a show of strength in Thailand, and the aforementioned “Al Koki” is notorious for training his calves by Kicking a metal pipe!

In this method, Prozka actually adds himself to the list of saws … and a bit crazy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good guide for today! I’m bad at following other sports, so at least in terms of MMA, I’m most grateful for Charles Oliveira against Michael Chandler. Great fight, and I was pleased that each of them became a champion!
